Video Game New Releases – Week of May 2nd

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Modern Warfare 2 – Stimulus Package is coming to the PC this week and that should excite the online PC gamers, they always get the short end of the stick when it comes to release dates. Poor PC gamers.

Iron Man 2 releases on all major platforms this week. Licensed games are generally mediocre at best but we will see if Iron Man 2 improves on the first Iron Man game.

Several Wii, DS and a PSP titles round out the releases this week. Most of these titles are family or children’s games although I am sure there is excitement among the Fat Princess series fans that a version will now be available on the PSP.

Video Game New Releases – Week of April 25th

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

There are several titles coming out this week that gamers may be interested in. The newest version of Street Fighter is now out. Super Street Fighter IV is an expanded version of the last game with more characters and other features.

Dead to Rights: Retribution is the follow-up to the original Dead to Rights game. It is a fast paced modern action game with melee and gun combat.

Soccer fans will definitely be excited to be able to play FIFA 2010 World Cup South Africa releasing across several platforms. The FIFA series is very popular among soccer fans and this newest version should be no different.

There are several RPG titles coming and Splinter Cell: Conviction is coming to the PC this week.

Video Game New Releases – Week of 3/7/10

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Final Fantasy XIII released this week and has shipped 5 million copies already. This is a very highly anticipated game, especially because it is coming to the 360 and not just the PS3. Final Fantasy XIII is a turn based RPG that is part of the legendary series of Final Fantasy games.

There are not many other big name titles releasing this week, probably because the publishers did not want to compete directly with Final Fantasy.

There are several PC titles releasing this week including Assassin’s Creed II, Supreme Commander 2, and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Chaos Rising. PC gamers have been waiting for the Assassin’s Creed II title and as a former strictly PC gamer, I can understand the difficulty in waiting for a game that has been on consoles for months.

Video Game New Releases – Week of 2/14/10

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

It is a fairly slow week in new video game releases. There are a few average titles that fans of the genres or series may appreciate. Games include Aliens vs. Predator, Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce, and SOCOM for the PSP.

Aliens vs. Predator is probably the most hyped title releasing this week. I do not expect any of these games to be blockbuster titles or to blow away the critics with something extraordinary.

There are a handful of other titles releasing this week that are expansions or sequels to cult titles such as Everquest II and Tropico 3. To round out the week there are a few DS titles and an arcade collection for the Wii.

Video Game New Releases – Week of 1/31/10

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

The big title this week is Star Trek Online for the PC. As a fan of MMORPGs, I am excited to see how this story unfolds. Will Star Trek Online do anything to affect the massive audience of WoW? I wouldn’t count on it. I do expect to see them applying all of the best attributes of MMOs to this title. They have a lot to live up to if they expect to impress all of the trekkies out there.

There is also a Japanese RPG being released for PS3 owners: White Knight Chronicles. This game boasts up to 100 hours of gameplay which is great, but there does not seem to be anything else to distinguish this game from other RPGs of its kind.

Game Platform(s) Release
StarTrek Online PC 2/2/10
White Knight Chronicles International Edition PS3 2/2/10
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat PC 2/2/10

Global Agenda PC 2/1/10
Family Party: 30 Great Games Winter Fun Wii 2/5/10
